This weekend offers church sales, special auctions, and new flea market!

The long awaited Spring season has finally arrived! This weekend will be jammed-packed with church sales, special auctions, and the launch of a new flea market in the area.

On Friday there is a special Yard and Garden Auction in Foster, RI at Danny’s Auction Barn. Starting at 6 pm, this event offers bargains up for bid on everything you'll need to get the yard cleaned up and start your plantings after a long, dreary winter. Danny’s is located on Route 6, and my husband, Jeff will be auctioneering.

Saturday morning offers a bunch of great church rummage sales.
Here are a few:

TAG AND BAKE SALE, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Taftville Congregational Church, Taftville. Household goods, books, collectibles, crystal, china. Hot dogs and drinks will be for sale.

SPRING RUMMAGE SALE, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Plainfield Congregational Church, Plainfield. Clothing, records, toys and household items. Information: 564-5590 or 564-5218.

FLEA MARKET, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Divine Providence Church, Norwich. There will be 25 vendors. Information: 887-8781 or 887-4265.

St. Augustine Church RUMMAGE SALE, 9 a.m. to noon, Canterbury.

Then on Sunday, Danny’s Auction Barn’s new Flea Market debuts! Again, that’s right on Route 6, about 5 minutes past the RI/CT state line. Also on Sunday, Danny will be having a big Equipment and Tool Auction. (That should bring the men out!) While the flea market will begin early in the morning, the auction starts at 12 noon.

Thrift stores, like Salvation Army, are reporting an increase in business these days. (I’ve also noticed that their prices have increased.) The state of the economy is affecting all of us, and more people are shopping second-hand. These events are a great way to save money on good, usable items.
